Catharine Nicol travelled to Hong Kong to stay for four weeks in 1997. She's still there, loving every minute of living, travelling, writing and shooting in Asia.

For 12 years she has been working as a travel writer and photographer, with a few full time jobs sprinkled into the mix:

In 2002 an Assistant Editor position at www.lankwaifong.com reporting on Hong Kong's most buzzing nightlife area, reviewing restaurants and bars, interviewing personalities, taking photos of the carnage on Friday nights and best of all, writing an agony aunt column.

From 2004-2008 she was Editor-in-chief of AsiaSpa magazine, the region's leading spa, wellness and travel lifestyle publication, growing it from 100 to 200 pages, reviewing spas (yes, the best job in the world), interviewing the spa industry's movers and shakers, and tracing the incredible boom of Asia's spa industry.

She is currently Editor-at-large, an honorary position, while she freelances for numerous other titles, writing spa and wellness, travel, food, design, sport and more. She has contributed to titles like Discovery, Silk Road, Travel + Leisure South Asia, MillionaireAsia, South China Morning Post, Horizon, Hong Kong Tatler, Baccarat, Connect, aspire, LP Luxury Properties, Asia Pacific Boating as well as Decanter in the UK, The Australian in Australia, The San Francisco Chronicle in the US, Travel to Wellness in Canada and many more.

She has built up an amazing record via her digital photo library of Asia - and also numerous destinations in the rest of the world most recently Barcelona, Morocco, Ibiza, Rome, Tuscany, as well as Paris, London, New York, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania and more - over the last decade.
